Western Equatoria Deputy Governor called on citizens to celebrate the New Year in peaceful manner.
Sapan Abui in his New Year’s message on Tuesday told people of Western Equatoria to mourn fellow citizens in other states, Anisa Radio reported.
He warned against shooting guns while welcoming the New Year.
Deputy Governor Abui told the public to avoid loud noise drums that may scare people due to the current situation in the country.
He directed all the organized forces to patrol and monitor the security in the state.
The Deputy Governor threatened that anyone who will disturb peace in the state during the New Year celebration will face the law.
He said priorities of the state government in 2014 include education, security and agriculture for the welfare of citizens of Western Equatoria.
The Deputy Governor wished all citizens in Western Equatoria in particular and South Sudan in general a prosperous New Year 2014.
