The UN fund for children issued a statement strongly condemning the killing of two officials from the Western Equatoria State Ministry of Education by suspected Ugandan rebels near Tambura County.
The two officials were killed by Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels on Sunday.UNICEF called upon regional and international authorities to bring perpetrators of the “atrocious act” quickly to justice.
The UN agency said the two slain officials collaborated with the UNICEF to implement education projects in Western Equatoria State.
UNICEF expressed concern for the children and women who were abducted during the attack and called on the LRA for their safe and swift release.
