Petroleum and Mining minister confirmed that the rebels were in full control of the oil fields in Unity State.
Stephen Dhieu Dau told the press on Thursday evening in Juba that workers did not properly shutdown pipelines and the leakage would damage oil facilities and pollute the environment of the area, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the rebels would be held responsible for environmental pollution and damage of oil facilities.
Minister Dheiu said situation in Malakal oil fields was normal and production would continue
He said production in Malakal was running normally though there was still limited shooting in the town.
Forces loyal to Riek Machar last week took full control of oil fields in Bentiu, Unity State.
