United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS began relocating its non-critical staff from Juba to the Ugandan city of Entebbe on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Mission said the decision to relocate staff was a precautionary measure to reduce pressures on its limited resources.

It said UNMISS would continue to provide assistance and shelter to over 20 thousand civilians in its compounds in Juba.

The statement said on Saturday the Mission relocated all remaining staff from its compound in Bor, Jonglei state to Juba.

UNMISS revealed plans to reinforce its military presence in Bor and Pariang to continue protecting civilians.

The Mission said it would continue to engage, together with international, regional partners and key South Sudanese leaders to help find a peaceful solution to the current crisis.

Once the security situation in the country stabilized, the Mission would return non-critical staff to Juba.
