About five thousand displaced people who took refuge at St Theresa’s Cathedral Kator lack food and shelter and other basic services.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Juba Santo Loku Pio said the 5000 people sleep in the open air and most of them especially children are sick suffering from different diseases.
Bishop Loku said it was not easy for the children to sleep in an open air because they would be vulnerable to diseases.
He said it was not only a matter of providing them with medicines but a better shelter and other services.
The Auxiliary Bishop said there was sanitation problem as people defecate in the open which would cause cholera and other diseases.
He called on humanitarian organizations and government to provide services to people in Kator Cathedral.
The displaced people said they were afraid to go back.
They urged the government to provide security to take them to their various places.
