The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development or IGAD delegation would continue with more consultations to understand the cause of SPLM crisis that led to the death of about five hundred people including civilians and armed forces.
IGAD delegation head also Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Minister Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told the press on Friday that they had a fruitful meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
He promised to brief the press as soon as they establish more information about the violence.
Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth said the government assured the delegation its commitment to peace and dialogue with rebelling group.
He added that the delegation exchanged views on the ongoing insurgency in the country.
Mr Makuei said South Sudan gave IGAD green light to tackle SPLM differences to realize relative peace.
The Information Minister added that government’s first priority was to stop the ongoing conflicts especially in Jonglei State.
Mr Makuei said there was an attack on UN Compound based in Akobo that left some civilians and UN staff dead without confirming the number of victims.
He revealed that no contact was made with Dr Riek Machar Teny and the group believed to be behind the insurgency.
