The President of the Republic refuted media reports of Riek Machar’s denial of military coup attempt as a misunderstanding among presidential guards.
Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday said Riek Machar made announcement of victory over Juba by mid-day when he learnt his forces were making progress in overtaking Presidential Guards’ Headquarters near the University of Juba.
He added that Dr Riek’s denial of military coup attempt was a contradiction.
The President said mutineers in Bor, Likwangole, Akobo, Torit, Mangalla and Lirya were not his guards.
He pointed out that it was Dr Riek Machar’s plan and his allies to execute military coup at the hatch hour.
President Kiir likened Dr Riek’s relationship with him to the Lucifer and God who late broke out into condemnation for life.
He questioned the possibility of reconciliation and repositioning of Dr Riek Machar after a second rebellion from the SPLM party.

President Kiir reiterated that the fight was not tribal, but all to do with power struggle.
He urged citizens in their hideouts to return home and report to work places during the day.
