Eastern Equatoria government in Torit announced indefinite postponement of a peaceful demonstration and public rally schedule for Wednesday.

State spokesperson Clement Chichim Loku did not give details why the demonstration was postponed, Emmanuel Radio reported.

The minister said the rally was adjourned because important guests were visiting the state.

Earlier the state government authorities announced ‘peaceful demonstration’ to show their support to national government for crashing coup attempt in Juba.

State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore on Monday placed Torit town under curfew following the clashes in Juba.

He said the curfew would allow the security forces to safeguard the town and the people after business stopped on Monday in Torit town after traders closed their shops.

Governor Lobong dismissed claims that the coup attempt in Juba was tribal.

He said Eastern Equatoria belongs to all citizens of South Sudan and everybody in the state should live in peace and love of one another.
