Canada appeals for calm in South Sudan

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister expressed concern by the recent fighting in Juba and appealed for calm in South Sudan following the coup attempt in Juba.
 
John Baird called on the fighting parties to obey the rule of law, fully respect lives and property of civilians and address political differences that led to the violence through dialogue.
 
He advised Canadians resident in Juba to remain indoors and to monitor local media. 
 
Mr Baird said Canada will continue to monitor the situation.
