Lakes State commemorates World Aids Day

Lakes State government officials, NGOs, UN agencies and civilian population on Monday celebrated World Aids Day at Rumbek Freedom Square.
 
The day was celebrated under the theme: ‘Zero new HIV new infection, zero stigma and discrimination, zero HIV related death’, Good News Radio reported.
 
UN reprehensive Emanuel Gai acknowledged that the prevalent rate of HIV Aids was high in Lakes State because of behavioural aspect of its people.
 
He attributed the high prevalence to cultural traditional practices like inheritance of women and scarification.
 
State Information Minister Dut Makoi Kuok appreciated attendants and participations of partners and all UN agencies. 
 
Mr Makoi was speaking on behalf of the State Governor Matur Chut.
