A number of editors met in Juba Monday to discuss the registration of journalists ordered by the Minister of Information and decided that ‘it was improper.’

The editors said the registration is the task of the Media Authority yet to be established.

The editors decided to maintain the dialogue channels with Minister Michael Makuei and nominated a delegation to meet him and find a solution to the stalemate.

Senior journalist Alfred Taban, who chaired the editors’ meeting, broke the news to the media.

The editors decided also to engage with the national speaker and with the Legislative Assembly Media Committee over the matter.

The editors decided also to establish South Sudan Editors Forum, open to all editors in the country.
