The Office of the President of the Government of Southern Sudan received a number of computers after its staff underwent training to operate the machines in an effort to boost its capacities.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday handed over 50 desktop and 30 laptop computers along with software and server units to the Office of the President.

A total of 40 staff completed a three month course on the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the Internet to be able to operate the new equipment adequately.

The initiative is part of the Support to the Office of the President Project to organize information more easily, monitor finances, and quickly interact with people all over the world, among other things through information and communication technology.

The project is financed by the governments of Norway and the UK and managed by UNDP.
