United States Ambassador to South Sudan called on state and national governments to increase transparency on state affairs to build citizens’ confidence.

Susan Page said citizens need to have confidence in government through access to information.

She added that comparative studies and experiences showed that increased transparency is the best and most effective way to build good governance for prosperity.

Dr Page appealed for effective collaboration between the state and national leadership to provide effective services.

She observed that if communities across the nation had access to primary health care, good schools and economic opportunities, there would be no uprising against the government.

The ambassador disclosed that researches indicate that limited transparency leads to increased infant and maternal mortality rate in the world.
