Japan Embassy hands over Juba Na Bari road

Embassy of Japan on Wednesday handed over Juba Na Bari road formerly called Upper Talanga Road in the presence of Central Equatoria Physical Infrastructure Ministry and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS.
 
In a statement issued on Thursday, the road rehabilitation cost over one million US dollars.
 
The money was grant assistance for grassroots and human security project jointly implemented by the ministry and UNMISS Japanese Contingent Engineer Company with special technical support from JICA.
 
Ambassador of Japan to South Sudan Takeshi Akamatsu said the 1.7 kilometre road was designed to improve drainage system to ease floods and strengthen the community’s resilience to water-related disasters. 
 
He said the rehabilitated road with drainage will benefit at least 3,500 households with the improved mobility, sanitation and resilience to flood economic opportunities. 
 
Juba Na Bari residents praised the special joint achievement between Japan, state ministry of Infrastructure and UNMISS.
