Parliament approves Presidential appointees without vetting

The National Legislative Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved the appointment of Justice Minister, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and Deputy Minister for Cabinet Affairs.
 
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial read the appointment decree of Paulino Wanawilla Unango for Minister of Justice, Peter Bashir Gbandi Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Dr Selwa Gibril Beriberi Deputy Minister for Cabinet Affairs.
 
Legislators clapped with cheers to endorse the appointees.
 
Peter Bashir Gbandi told CRN he was grateful to Almighty God, the President of the Republic for his confidence in him and parliamentarians for the unanimous approval.
 
He added the new assignment was a challenging task and that he hoped to deliver services to meet people’s expectations.
 
Mr Bashir Gbandi said he would not forget to represent his people of Maridi County in the parliament.
 
He added that it was his time to represent SPLM and the nation abroad, expressing hope and ability to deliver. 
 
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said as a cadre of SPLM, his appointment was not a surprise.
