Police, Wildlife and Prisons forces on Monday searched Rumbek residential areas and seized different types of local and imported alcoholic drinks and opium.
Public Relations Director Mareng Deng Akuei on Tuesday said the search targeted what he termed ‘unlawful items’ including alcohol and drugs, Good News Radio reported.
Colonel Deng said the organized forces confiscated over 170 jarricans of local brews, 352 pieces of spirits and several materials used for brewing local alcohol.
He added that the forces arrested one businesswoman in possession of opium.
Colonel Deng said police arrested and opened a case against individuals found selling alcohol and those dealing in illegal drugs.
He added that the accused persons would be taken to court for trials.
