UNICEF, government develop unified school curriculum

United Nations Children Education Fund or UNICEF Education Specialist told CRN on Monday that her organization and government were developing a unified national school curriculum embedded with life skills to transform the young generation.
 
Thelma K Majela said the integral curriculum would cater for technological advancement and peace building crucial for the new nation.
 
She pointed out that technology and peace building were distinguished as key life skills to be born in minds of all South Sudanese.
 
Dr Majela said a lot of civic education was needed in South Sudan for a mind set transformation for local people to understand governance.
 
She said vocational education was an answer to the huge unemployment issue in the country.
 
Dr Majela said learners needed to appreciate vocational education as a key component of life skills instead of considering it a last resort.
 
She observed that national transformation in social economic needed cooperation, teamwork and joint efforts from government, citizens and development partners.
