Children are meeting national MPs, UNICEF representatives, Save the Children and other partners today in Juba to discuss ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Children or UNCRC.

The meeting is expected to highlight the importance of ratifying the Convention and its impact on the rights and lives of children across South Sudan.

The discussion will include members of the Specialized Committee for Children in the parliament and the South Sudan Parliamentary Lobby Group for Children.

MPs will also answer questions from the children and affirm their support for ratification.

South Sudan is one of only three countries that did not ratify the Convention.
