An inter-governmental dialogue between state and the local government on Monday identified food insufficiency and low salaries of government employees as key causes of insecurity in Juba.
Acting Inspector of Youth Training in the national ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports Stanislaus Luwala said food deficiency and low salaries were key factors fueling robbery and murder of motorcycle owners.
He added that soldiers’ salaries were not meeting high prices of commodities in markets forcing them to crook ways of earning their living.
Participant Hilda Lisi said high rate of unemployment among youths in Juba was responsible for increasing insecurity.
She advocated for on-the-job training instead of too much demands for recruitment and ten years work experiences.
Ms Lisi lamented that citizens wanted to see positive change in life.
National Democratic Institute in partnership with South Sudanese Network for Democracy and Elections organized the inter-governmental dialogue.
