Army cleans Juba

Republican Guards and church leaders on Saturday cleaned some streets in Juba to implement the Mayor’s policy to keep Juba clean and green.
 
Republican Guard Commander Major General Marial Chinong told the press on Saturday that it was very important to involve the army in the cleaning exercise to top up activities of Juba City Council.
 
He said the campaign was the beginning of a program that would continue.
 
General Chinong added that the Guard will agree with the office of the Mayor on a day in the week for cleaning.
 
Juba Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani said the army came to support Juba City Council because cleaning Juba city was a responsibility of every citizen.
 
He said the problem of garbage in the city was a major threat that required changing people’s mindset.
 
The Mayor added that the involvement of the army in the cleaning would bring harmony between the army and the civilians.
 
Reverend Emmanuel Nathaniel from ECS All Saint Cathedral in Juba said it was very important to involve every citizen in the maintenance of the city.
 
He urged citizens to take up the initiatives to keep the town clean.
 
Rev Nathaniel quoted the bible saying God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to take care of the earth, urging people to reflect the will of God.
