South Sudan Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Secretary-General on Friday advised the country to remain an observer member of East African Community or EAC.

Simon Akuei Deng told CRN that the country would not qualify as a full member without advancing its customs, tariff systems, human resource capacity and infrastructures.

He said, ‘South Sudan should clean its house first.’

Mr Deng pointed out that EAC members had gone far ahead in industrialization, trade and human resources development.

He observed that South Sudan should develop its customs, tariff systems, human resources and social economic infrastructures including roads before thinking of joining the community as full member.
