The United Nation Population Fund or UNFPA launched the world population report 2013 on child pregnancy.

The reported report under the theme ”Motherhood in childhood, facing the challenge of adolescent pregnancy”, indicated that every day more than 20 thousand teenagers in developing countries get pregnant before reaching 18 years, Bakhita Radio reported.

UNFPA Country representative Barnabas Yisa said the adolescent world population report is worrying.

He said it was very risky for a child to give birth to a child.

Mr Yisa quoted UNFPA Executive Director calling for mass campaign awareness on girls’ education in South Sudan.

Deputy minister for Education Bol Makueng said the government was committed to enact and enforce laws on child pregnancy in schools.

He said in the new curriculum they enacted laws that campaign for girl’s safety in school and ensure that every girl accessed education in the country.

Mr Makueg added that the ministry and partners would ensure they fought ill-practices against girls in the country.

Central Equatoria Health Minister Emmanuel Ijja Baya revealed a plan to train more midwives and deploy them to health centres to handle child pregnancy cases.
