Tonj South Mayor in Warrap State on Tuesday banned selling local alcohol in the market.
Marko Marko Ajiec said he wanted all local alcohol traders to sell their drinks outside the market, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He added that many people were selling local alcohol everywhere in the market.
Mr Ajiec ordered local alcohol sellers to find a new place in Deng Nhial market to sell their products within seven days.
He also gave Malith Market cooks seven days to relocate their restaurants to block B.
Mr Ajiec added that cooks were working between shops built on grass and plastic sheets which can easily catch fire.
He urged the traders, food and tea sellers to stop cooking between the shops to protect markets from fire.
