Armed men from the notorious Ugandan rebel group Lord’s Resistance Army attacked Ezo, in Western Equatoria, killing one person, injuring another and abducting two others.

Ezo County Press Secretary Martin Zagi reported the attack to Anisa Radio over the phone.

He said the attack took place Thursday morning in Nanzinga Boma.

Mr Zagi stated that the attackers burned the house of Angelo Makario and took his wife.

He added that the rebels also abducted a young boy.

The deceased was named Adam Babu.

Samuel Mathew, who was injured in the attack, was transferred to Yambio State Hospital for treatment.

Ezo County Commissioner Moudie Albert urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the authorities.

He instructed all security personnel in Ezo county to take full control and deal with the suspects.

Mr Moudie said the LRA rebels came in big number.

He added that this was the first incident after 2010, the last time the LRA attacked the area.

Many people from Nanzinga and the surrounding areas ran to Ezo town for protection.
