Rumbek State Hospital on Wednesday started operating fistula patients from Lakes, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and Unity states.
Director General at the State Ministry of Health Michael Mading said during the opening ceremony that the fistula campaign targeted 70 patients in the next week, Good News Radio reported.
Dr Mading said Rumbek Civil Hospital has so far registered 38 cases and 28 came from Lakes State.
Health expert Milicent Obasa said fistula could be avoided if the community changed the habit of early marriage which is the main cause for the problem.
She challenged leaders to play a role in the fight against fistula.
The fistula campaign ends on November 15 in Rumbek.
