The Association of Human Rights Lawyers is holding a conference on the “Role of Lawyers in Nation Building” on Saturday in Juba.
Topics will include the role of lawyers in nation building, the role of government and advocates in the protection of human rights, the role of the military and other security agencies in the implementation of court decisions.
The lawyers association said in a statement that the conference ‘is an important dialogue and networking event between lawyers, the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, civil society, and donors.’
Invited guests include the President of the Republic, Minister of Interior, Inspector General of Police, Chief Justice, Acting Minister of Justice, army, National Prison Service of South Sudan, MPs, civil society and diplomatic community.
