An Episcopal Church of Sudan pastor blamed some church leaders for being silent in addressing the misuse of the country’s resources by the government.

Peter Jou said the Church danced to the tune of the government instead, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that most clergy could not speak up but sit and watch the bad practices of the government.

Reverend Jou said the church also went silent to condemn the increase of prostitution and loss of the family values through the establishment of new hotels.

Rejaf Diocese ECS Bishop Enock Tombe acknowledged that if the church submitted fully to the government it would fail to discharge its duties.

He said the church and the government needed to work together in addressing the challenges of the country.

Bishop Tombe refuted the claim that church leaders were silent and danced to the tune of the government saying pastors spoke out against government malpractices.

He pointed out that there was no unity among church leaders at national level and they could not come together to point out some national government bad practices.

The two church leaders were talking in Bakhita Radio Nation Building evening show on Tuesday.
