The directorate of music, drama and dance or MDD in Yei River County on Thursday launch music and drama festival for primary schools.
MDD trainer Peter Rock said the contest brought 25 primary schools and the works of ten of them were already marked, Easter Radio reported.
He explained that the schools present western coral singing, folk songs and sight singing.
Mr Rock said there was great improvement in this year’s competition.
Yei River County MDD Director Sebit Jacob said the competition is structured for primary schools and its one of the co-curricular activities of the year.
Mr Sebit added that lack of skilful MDD teachers and funds were major problem facing his department.
The festival, set at the Crop Training Centre in Yei, concludes on Saturday.
The contest is the second of its kind to be conducted in Yei Municipality.
