Tonj authorities gave the go-ahead to a traditional drums competition among Greater Tonj residents.
Tonj Mayor Marko Mabior Ajiec said Dinka, Bongo, Jur and others were allowed to beat their traditional drums on Sunday at Freedom Square, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He said the authorities stopped wrestling games due to fighting among participants.
Mr Ajiec advised participants to leave knives, spears and sticks at home.
He urged youths to play their traditional drums in the context with respect and work for peace and development of the country.
Mr Ajiec advised the youths to respect their elders and their age mates while playing drums at Tonj Freedom Square.
