Citizens of Yambio County on Tuesday celebrated belatedly Global Hand Washing Day.
INTERSOS in partnership with State Rural Water and Sanitation department organized the occasion in Nambia Boma of Li-Rangu Payam, Anisa Radio reported.
Rural Water and Sanitation Director Daniel Bando said the celebration aimed to inform the public on the importance and benefits of clean hands.
He added that many children die every year from stomach complication caused by dirty hands.
Mr Bando urged citizens of Nambia and the entire public to wash hands with clean water and soap before and after eating food and using toilet.
The Minister for Commerce, Trade and Investment Simon Ngbiidigi contributed 650 South Sudanese Pounds to the five schools that acted during the occasion.
Health Minister John Gboono offered five boxes of soap to each of the schools.
MP Hussein Enoka representing Li-Rangu in the State legislative Assembly said his payam lacks safe and clean water especially during the dry season.
