The National Legislative Assembly on Tuesday raised concern over the deteriorating conditions at Juba Teaching Hospital after five children died due to a power blackout.

MP Justin Joseph Marona of Maridi Town Constituency told the National Assembly that at least five children died in the hospital due to lack of electricity on Monday.

He appealed to development partners to intervene in order to rescue the situation.

MP Marona revealed plans to summon Ministers of Health, Electricity and Finance to explain to the national assembly why conditions at Juba Teaching Hospital continue to worsen despite their sweet promises of services delivery.

The National Legislature referred the Workers Trade Unions Federation Bill 2013 to the joint committee of Public Service, Labour and Human Resource Development, Legislation and Justice to prepare its third reading.

Acting Speaker Victor Omuho Ohidei instructed the joint committee to present the bill for deliberation after seven days.

MPs also raised the issues of the Juba-Torit Road described as ‘in appalling condition’ and the suffering flood victims in Tonj North who did not receive any assistance.
