Torit Catholic Apostolic Administrator expressed gratitude to God for inspiring the founders of the United Nations and appreciated the agency for its humanitarian work on the ground.
Monsignor Thomas Oliha said through the UN all nations in the world should unite, love one another and live together in peace and solidarity, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He described UN as a gift to the humanity to bring all nations together in love and peace to share the resource in good spirit.
Eastern Equatoria Finance Minister Felix Makuja said the UN is a family member that helps Eastern Equatoria during hardships.
He likened the UN to South Sudan because it was born after the First World War.
Eastern Equatoria Legislative Speaker Ambrose Ocholimoi said UN peacekeepers sacrificed their lives to serve the people in several areas of South Sudan and they deserved appreciation.
He noted that without UNMISS, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Eastern Equatoria government would not provide services to some areas in the state.
UNMISS coordinator in Eastern Equatoria Hiroko Mosko said the presence of UNMISS was to serve the people of the state and the country at large.
