Two thirds of the victims of seasonal floods in South Sudan have already been assisted though a flood response fund.
UN’s Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or UNOCHA chief Chris Nikoi said in a statement on Saturday that ‘partners reached nearly 100,000 of the 156,000 people identified, so far as affected by flooding since August.’
‘At this difficult time when people across many parts of South Sudan are struggling to cope with flooding, I want to express my appreciation to the humanitarian community and government for the response efforts so far,’ he added.
Mr Nikoi appreciated the government’s leadership and efforts in responding to the needs of flood-affected people across the country.
The flood victims received food, household materials, water, sanitation and medical assistance transported by available means.
