Central Equatoria State Government signed a contract with 11 focal persons from anti-corruption offices under the umbrella of Community Empowerment Progress Organization or CEPO on Friday to fight corruption.

CEPO Executive Director Edmund Yakani said the focal persons can help the Central Equatoria to fight corruption at local government level, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said if corruption was reduced the money could be used to deliver services to benefit citizens of the country.

Anti-corruption officer representing Terekeka County Pitya Moses Buya described the process as helpful not only to Central Equatoria but to the whole nation.

He said if corruption was minimised at the grassroots it would enable the marginalized people to get the services they needed.

The 11 focal persons will be deployed at Juba City Council and Yei Municipality after the training.

The signing of the contracts was witnessed by the Central Equatoria State Governor’s advisor for Public Service Affairs.
