Lakes State Finance ministry announced it was paying salaries of only 198 of the 474 civil servants suspended in August.
Director-General Kuol Daniel Ayulo told Good News Radio on Wednesday that his office received a letter from the head of the Screening Committee, Deputy Governor Mabor Achol Kuer, authorizing him to pay salaries of 198 suspended workers.
He said the letter indicated payment of September salaries only.
It added that screening was still ongoing.
The letter did not clarify the criteria the Committee used for paying the 198 workers.
Lakes State Ministry of Labour and Public Service in August suspended salaries of 474 workers on allegations that they were absent from work with unclear reasons.
