The Acting Governor of Lakes State on Wednesday suspended activities of the State Legislative Assembly for one week pending Governor Matur Chut Dhuol and SPLM State Chairperson Daniel Awet Akot return.

Mabor Achol Kuer in a gubernatorial order indicated that the suspension was based on Speaker John Marik’s report of a crisis in the State Assembly, Good News Radio reported.

The order said the decision was in line with State Transitional Constitution and endorsed by the State Security Committee and Council of Ministers in consultations with the Speaker.

Lakes State MPs on Tuesday accused Speaker Marik of violating the Constitution by assuming powers of the Governor to suspend the Parliament.
