150 women of Abyei Ngok Dinka named themselves ‘One heart women’ shut down alcohol brewing in the region.
The alcohol stoppage came after a group of 90 women in July went to mourn the late Paramount chief Kuol Deng Kuol and were disappointed by a drunken young man.
One heart women Deputy Chairlady Nyalueth Chol told CRN on Sunday that liquor became another enemy to their children and husbands.
She said women threw alcohol away and arrested other women who were continuing to brew it in Abyei.
The woman leader pointed out that women should not cook a thing that kills their children and husbands.
Ms Chol appealed to South Sudanese women to join their Abyei sisters in stopping alcohol production.
The women leader said marriages and other occasions of joy should be celebrated without alcohol.
