At least two people were killed following a dowry dispute in Jur River County of Western Bahr El Ghazal State.

Choro Mon was killed by his brother in-law for allegedly having confronted the bridegroom over a dowry payment during a dance on Sunday night in Atido Boma of Udici Payam, Voice of Hope reported.

Witness Joseph Alfred said the relatives of the victim killed in-law Uchala Nyang in retaliation.

He said the late Nyang was killed at home while sleeping.

The two dead bodies were brought to Wau Teaching Hospital for medical confirmation on Monday.

Medical director Edmond Sebit Ramadan said both victims, one 19 years old and the other 20 years, died of spear wounds.

Jur River County authorities last week banned movement with firearms, spears, sticks and abolishing social dances.
