The Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese and the State Ministry of Physical Infrastructure started rehabilitating the Yambio-Nzara road through volunteer work.

Director General for the state ministry of Physical Infrastructure Richard Issa Minzani thanked the Catholic Church for collaborating with the government and the community to rehabilitate the road.

Engineer Minzani said they have rehabilitated some bad parts of the road more than four times at different sections.

Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala thanked the community who turned up for the road rehabilitation work showing a patriotic spirit of citizenship.

The Bishop noted that money cannot do everything but people themselves can volunteer work with their hands that pave ways for self-reliance.

He urged the community to continue doing volunteer work both for the government and in the church.

State minister of Physical Infrastructure Clement Juma Mbugoniwia visited the rehabilitated stretch.

He thanked the Catholic Church for its good spirit and cooperation with the government to render services to the communities.

Mr Mbugoniwia lamented that most of the roads in the state were in bad condition due to heavy rains defaulting business and other activities.

All the curia and state ministry infrastructure offices were closed Tuesday morning, including St. Mary’s Primary School, for officials and pupils to fix the first kilometre of Yambio-Nzara Road.
