Yei River County Acting Education Director called on the parents to give both boys and girls equal educational opportunities.

Philip Taban Issa told Easter Radio in an interview on Saturday that neglecting girls’ education would cause ineffectiveness in the community.

He identified that some parents favour boys and neglect girls.

Pastor Taban explained that parents should know that both boys and girls are their children and should receive equal support.

He emphasized that educated boys and girls contribute equally towards the development of the country.

Pastor Taban urged teachers to ensure that both boys and girls are present in class.

He advised them to follow up any absent child to find out the reason for nonattendance.

Pastor Taban said the governments of South Sudan and United Kingdom wanted to give grants for the effective running of the schools.

He also disclosed that the two governments wanted to provide cash transfer for girls from primary five to senior four to cater for their needs.
