Assistant commissioner appeals for investment on water projects

Yei River County Assistant Commissioner of Water and Sanitation appealed for more investment in the urban water projects to boost effective delivery of clean water in the town.
 
Juma Hassan told the crowd commemorating Global Hand Washing Day on Friday that he hoped the appointment of Yei Municipal Mayoress would boost clean water supply, Easter Radio reported.
 
He called on parents to educate children on hand washing in order to avoid ilnesses.
 
ACROSS representative Dick Malaba explained that washing hands was vital because it removes germs that cannot be seen by naked eyes.
 
He noted that culturally people like shaking hands and as such there was need to wash hands after doing any activity.
 
Mr Malaba clarified that germs cause various diseases including diarrhoea and cholera.
 
He advised citizens to wash hands properly with soap and water.
 
Yei Town Block Director Alfati Morgan Agil called on citizens to trim their fingernails to avoid engulfing germs because washing hands was not enough.
 
He stressed the need to keep water points surroundings clean including boreholes, wells, pools and water selling places.
