Authorities in Wau Municipality resolved to screen all water sources for nearly 95 percent people.
Wau Mayor Arkangelo Anyar Anyar told Voice of Hope that all wells in Wau Municipality would be screened and registered to ensure safe drinking water supply.
He reminded that most of the water sold in the residential areas was not collected from safe sources.
Mr Anyar said the municipal health department shall name and number all water carts and tankers within the municipality after assessment and direct them to collect drinking water from specified registered wells.
Mr Anyar threatened that unregistered carts will not be allowed to operate.
He added that any well that does not meet necessary health conditions would be closed.
This was the second move by Wau municipal authorities to launch a massive cleanliness campaign in residential areas.
