The national Minister for Agriculture urged citizens in the country to increase food production to secure face looming hunger in the country.
Beda Machar Deng said food, nutrition and income security sustainability need total involvement from every citizen, Bakhita Radio reported.
He added that creating awareness on importance of food production among rural communities was crucial.
Mr Machar said the ministry was exerting efforts to boost agriculture extension workers in payams and bomas to realize food security.
He added that the ministry was training extension agents for deployment to 213 payams in the country.
The agriculture minister made the call during the celebration of the World Food Day on Wednesday in Juba.
