GOSS RECOGNIZES TRADITIONAL LEADERS ROLE

Upper Nile caretaker Governor said the Government of Southern Sudan recognised the crucial role played by traditional authorities in helping to bring peace in the whole of South Sudan.

William Othwon made this statement at a colourful ceremony at the state capital Malakal attended by all chiefs in the state and several groups to mark the hand in of cars offered by GoSS president to the local chiefs in Upper Nile, Gurtong website reported.

Salva Kiir Mayardit donated 28 vehicles to local administrators in Upper Nile to facilitate theirs work.

Mr. Othwon said the donation shows GoSS recognition for the traditional authorities.

He added that the cars will contribute to the rapid development in Upper Nile State.

Mr. Othwon called for co-operation and co-existence amongst the many ethnic communities living in the state in order for the work of traditional leaders to bear fruits.
