Cases of epilepsy increased recently among children in Ojoko Boma of Dam Zubier Payam, Western Bahr El Ghazal, amidst a desperate situation of lack of medical services in the areas.
Boma Health officer Pualino Tomas Okonie told Voice of Hope Radio that the payam authority registered several cases of children affected by epilepsy, affecting almost every household.
He disclosed that reports about the disease submitted to State authorities did not receive any feedback so far.
Mr Tomas explained that the health situation in the payam was deteriorating and malaria was taking many lives in the area.
He added that Dam Zubeir Payam alone registered 120 cases of malaria from July to September, leaving many children dead.
The Ojoko Boma health officer called on the government at all levels to intervene to combat the worsening health situation in Dam Zubier Payam.
