The Acting Senior Inspector for Veterinary Service in Yambio County urged communities to vaccinate their poultry.

John Ngoru revealed that they received few vaccines last month against Newcastle diseases, Anisa Radio reported.

He stressed that Newcastle was a very dangerous disease that could kill the whole poultry.

The Inspector warned people against eating uninspected meat and dead animals.

Mr Ngoru said they vaccinated 148 chickens in Yambio County against Newcastle diseases last month.

He stated that the veterinary department trained 22 community health workers in all payams of Yambio, but deserted the job because they were not paid.

Mr Ngoru encouraged people to rear small domestic animals like sheep, goat and chickens for both local consumption and income generation.
