Legal Committee recommends improving judicial system

Justice Ministry Legal Committee that visited four states recommended improvement of judicial system in the country and that prisons should be correctional place.
 
The committee supported by the International Development Law Organization toured Northern and Western Bahr El Ghazal, Warrap and Eastern Equatoria states to assess conditions of inmates and suspects in the country and came up with a number of resolutions, Voice of Hope reported.
 
Public Prosecution Deputy Director in the Ministry Sabri Wani Lodu said during their tour they discovered that Wau Central Prison was congested with inmates from Greater Bahr El Ghazal states due to trials delay limited number of judges in all courts.
 
The Deputy Director explained that they also discovered that in Wau Central Prison there was no section for juveniles.
 
Justice Wani said they recommended that there should be vocational trainings for inmates.
 
He said they also recommended increasing judges in all courts and the court of appeal should be nearer to people of Wau.
 
Wau Central Prison was built to accommodate 240 inmates but now hosts 720.
