International Monetary Fund or IMF Resident Representative urged the Council of States to finalise the Petroleum Revenue Management Bill for the country to benefit from two million dollars assistance.

Joseph Karangwa said it was the question of the Council of States to pass the bill as soon as possible after the National Legislative Assembly passed it in July.

He added that IMF requires legislature endorsement to proceed with the assistance process.

Dr Karangwa explained that all IMF assistance to member countries require commitments to improve macroeconomic management to address economic needs.

He said the requirement was a precondition for the financial assistance under the Rapid Credit Facility.

He advised the government to strengthen the large tax payers’ unit to increase non-oil revenues.

Dr Karangwa said South Sudan should tax many businesses to boost non-oil revenues to increase its Gross Domestic Product from 32 to 42 percent.
