Fire guts South Sudan hotel

South Sudan Hotel in Juba on Wednesday caught fire and burned more than 80 VIPs rooms.
 
The Hotel manager Mel Garang told journalists that the fire started at around 11:30 AM at the second floor, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He said the information he got from his staff indicated that the fire was due to electricity fault.
 
Mr Garang added that no property was rescue because their clients were out for work.
 
He said they will form a committee to investigate into the matter.
 
Food and Beverage Supervisor Flora Khamis explained that the fire started at the hall and consumed VIPs. belongings.
 
She said it was the second time that the fire caught the same rooms after it gutted some properties in 2007.
 
South Sudan Director-General for Fire Brigade Kenedy Khot said lack of communication delayed the team to arrive the scene.
 
He urged the government to provide more vehicles and communication equipments to the Brigade to avoid delay.
 
Mr Khot appealed to mobile operators to give the Brigade one line that everybody can call in case of fire outbreak.
 
There were no reports of casualties, but the fire caused great losses to the management of the hotel.
