Conflict errupted and guns roared leaving six people dead in Baka Gold mine in Taala, Budi County of Eastern Equatoria State.

Budi County Commissioner Maurice Merisiya Kaunda said the six victims were killed during separate fights.

Emmanuel Radio got a report indicating that one Darfurian, four Didinga and one Murle were the deceased at Baka gold mine.

State Minister of Local Government, Law Enforcement and Wildlife, Charles Ambrose Lokonoi confirmed the killings at the Gold mine.

He attributed the killings to consumption of local alcohol commonly known as ‘Guu and Lira-Lira’, produced in the neighbouring Ugandan Districts.

Mr Lokonoi said Baka gold mine is a multi-ethnic area with population from Uganda, Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan and Sudan which became a  hiding place for criminals after committing atrocities in other parts of Budi County.
